Art of protest

 “It was better when nature was in fashion” - this is the quote from the graffiti in Tbilisi, where we see the young woman with gas mask on her face, this artwork belongs to the Georgian street artist Giorgi Gagoshidze. Woman with the gas mask is one of that graffiti series which was created by the Georgian street artists against the air pollution, in most graffiti`s main characters where street artists children who was covering their faces with white handkerchiefs. As artists says they used their own children in their artworks , because firstly air pollution directly damages their and their children`s health and it is reflected in their every days life.
Today street art consider one direction of visual art and main idea is to develop free art and express position about following things in the country

Stensil is the type of street art and it always create in dark colors and always express and criticize reality and sometimes its images are is impregnated by the protest.
Graffiti creates in one color or is healed on the wall and Tag is the self advertisement of artist in urban space.
The most famous artists British Banksy says in one interview that the inspiration of street art should be consider the cave art which was about 30 000 year ago before Christ by our ancestors which was express the hunting and fishing scenes , after 10 000 years later cave art left caves and start appear in the streets in urban space and become the form of express position.
In antic period there was popular to dedicate love quotes to lovely persons in front of window. Later it was popular the adds of prostitution. At the end of 20^th century in the period of hippes and post modern period the express of the position named as the street art.
First stensily in Germany it was the portret of Mussolini. Later we meet rats by the French artist, this rats was spread in the streets of Paris.

today the “king” of the street art consider the British benksy, no one knows anything about him, no one knows ho does he looks like but he is the most popular person in the world.
several years ago benksy with the help pf one woman called in the British museum and ask them to make exebition of his painting where we see man with the shopping basket and next to this man there was killed bison by the arrow so the idea was that “ the ancient person goes to the market”

Banksy is also very popular by the political stensili.
he also had the series of rats in Britain.
we meet Banksy followers in Georgia too, near art academy and every floor of academy there were too much rats which was singed by “academy of art” after that in Tbilisi appeared cats which was singed by “Humanoid”.
the most popular stensili of “Humanoid” is santa claus and the little girl which tries to kills the santa with pistol its at the Leselidze street.
We meet political setsils in Georgia too, after important events in Georgia suddenly appears images on the Tbilisi walls, there were many quotes in Georgia “ you are the slave of the system” “system should b destroyed” and so on.. we have some political street arts too which is singed by the “hvitt” during years in the underground near Philarmony there was the portret of Saakashvili and Puttini they were kissing each other and there was written “make love not war”

As the Georgia artist Giorgi Gagoshidze the same “Gagosh” says he paints in order to speak on that problem by graffiti, which makes him worried. He thinks that the part of society is interested in street art and so artists have opportunity to bring their word to the society, but Giorgi also thinks that Georgian artists need to refine it, “we have good start at the beginning but we need to refine it and transfer to intellectual art.”

as in many countries street art consider as vandalism in Georgia , “I don`t understand why street art is vandalism we only express our feelings and position, my favorite vandalism was living during only two days then it was delated” - Helpme is the street artist, today he works on Tags and he writes his name everywhere as he says he tags himself in the street .

Street artists works at night or early in the morning when the city sleeps , so people don’t notice them. They are painting on the walls, carriage, underground passages, they are painting in order to to become city more colorful, they thinks that street art is also art and in Tbilisi street there is place for it.

“Gagosh” says that street art creates for everyone, its tires to make influence on you and make you think about certain topic and caused reaction in you.

in order to cause reaction in society “Gagosh” started new movement in street art, he express his reaction in street poetry and leaves small poems and messages on the Tbilisi street walls, he thinks that, his street poetry is full of ironic, but ”I think it`s more difficult then graffiti, because it should be short and smart but the idea is the same as Graffiti.

Now “gagosh” works to recover that artworks which was cleaned from the walls and undergrounds , because he thinks that invade against them who deleted it, “if someone consider street art as the terrorism it is a shame if we will not have answer reaction” - says Giorgi Gagoshidze
